UCISD Career Technical Program adds a new HVAC program.
The Career & Technical Education Department has multiple opportunities for students to earn credentials that prepare them for careers after high school. Our program offers opportunities for students to explore multiple career paths that will prepare them to further their education and complete an industry-based certification in their program of study. Our Career & Technical Education Department offers 12 different programs at Uvalde High School and 2 of those programs are extended to Morales Junior High for our 8th-grade students to earn high school credit on those courses. Our newest addition is an HVAC program offered through our partnership with SWTJC. We are excited to begin offering students the opportunity to earn an HVAC certification while they are in high school. The initial course is open to all 10th-grade students and will prepare students to earn an industry-based credential for Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology through SWTJC. In addition, our program offers students opportunities in agriculture, welding, health science, digital media, construction, law enforcement, education & teaching, robotics & engineering, automotive technology, business management, and culinary arts. Dual credit courses are offered in several of our programs through our partnership with SWTJC. Any dual credit earned for students in these programs is at no cost to the student.
