-
Pros
- Minimal topography
- Site has access off of Uvalde CO 106 and S Getty Street (117)
- Location is south of US Hwy 90 (Main Street)
-
Cons
- Outside of Uvalde city limits and adjacent to an established hunting site
- Main entry can only face east towards S. Getty Street (117)
- City of Uvalde Municipal Waste-Water Treatment Plant (close proximity of site) āŖ Close proximity to former landfill site
- Utilities need to be extended to site (water, electric gas and waste-water)
Site Option 2
Pros/Cons
-
Pros
- Access to utilities (water, electric, gas and waste-water)
- Minimal topography
- Ability to access site on north, south and west side
- Only direct neighbor are additional school campuses
- All homes / businesses are across the street
- Efficient bus transportation routes
-
Cons
- Smaller site with minimal trees / shaded areas
- Adjacent to Morales Junior High and Uvalde High School (grades 2-4 adjacent to grades 7-12, so lack of continuity)
- Site is too narrow from east to west: Approximately 600 ft
- Preferred orientation of a site is when it runs east to west not north to south
- Development of this property would eliminate (in the short or long term) the community ball fields that would require rebuilding on a different property
- Significant flooding of site and adjacent streets during and after rain events
- Existing water well to be plugged if school is constructed
Site Option 3
Pros/Cons
-
Pros

- Minimal topography
- Site greater than 800 ft wide to allow for more buffer space
- Adjacent to Dalton Elementary (grades PK-1 adjacent to grades 2-4)
- Additional acreage to allow for more outdoor learning space and a detention pond
- Synergy between campuses to allow collaborative instruction and shared facilities
- Efficient bus transportation routes
-
Cons
- Minimal trees / shaded areas
- Access to site from south and west (through Dalton Elementary site)
- Main entry can only face south to Leona Road
